Proteus Training Camp is situated in Sherwood Forest and is due to be demolished in a couple of weeks and the site turned into a holiday park,im working there at the moment doing final checks before the demolition teams move in (currently off limits to the public).
Anyway thought id take what are probably the last photos of the camp for you folks that are interested in military buildings...
I understand this camp was founded in 1942 and used by British and American troops

Holiday Camp

Happy memories of Army Cadet days at Proteus almost a half a century ago. Maybe I should revisit when the holiday camp is built, I'm sure I could find an old suit of battledress in the loft if I looked :tinysmile_shy_t:

I spent many a weekend at proteus with the TA. what a shame it is going to be demolished.:tinysmile_cry_t4:
Any chance you can salvage the proteus sign Spotter?
It would have pride of place in our TA bar in Lincoln.
Cheers, Paul.

what prohibited access sign ,strangely that has vanished so i cant get it :tinysmile_twink_t:, i had one exactly like it mysteriously appear on my shed door :xd:

Just seen this thread and couldn't believe it. What a dissapointment! I stayed here a couple of times when I was in the cadets in the early 90's. My mum was based here in the 60s as part of the QARANC. There were some newer billets when I went there along with these nissan huts, which were in bad nick then. The Trident club! What a shame looking at those pics. I had such a good time there.
