russian Radio proximity fuze AR-27

microplastic

Well-Known Member
russian Radio proximity fuze AR-27 for 120mm mortars. In the base is a conventional fuze unit in case that the proximity fuze will not work. It was first in service in the early 1970, but i think, this fuze isn't anymore in use...

High: 190mm
diameter: 80mm
Point of detonation: at a High of 15m

They (the Russian Federation) are still digging out old stuff, which includes 3VOF3 rounds. The image below from October 2022.

A 3VOF3 round comprises the 3OF5 mortar bomb, its AR-27 proximity fuze, and one of two charge systems.

There's another image of a person holding a AR-27-fuzed 3OF5 mortar bomb, but I can't find that at the moment.
