Sc500 fuse pocket

Construction of the fuse pockets has begun and is going well
It didnt take long to get the right dimensions copied from my original.
I made the pocket deeper to allow for trimming once located in the bomb casing.

All i have left to do is turn down the outer fuse tube to make it a thin
wall and weld the lot together.

I have made two identical pockets and one lifting lug for the main body.

Nice job, hopefully once i have finished learning machining I will be able to do this sort of thing for stuff in my collection.

Thanks Falcon

Its a good thing to be able to do as work out how much of our ordnance has seen a laythe and then make it yourself for the satisfaction.

Threads etc

Cracking job there Satan looks like a nice piece of machining with some made to measure "custom Threads" for the locking rings etc.
Were all the bomb dimensions in Metric ?

Prety much everything german made uses the metric system and for the larger threads its just a question of working out the pitch and depth of thread.
and setting the screw cutter up and having a practise until its
spot on,as with the fuse pocket and my 17fuse lower casings although
i had to put what they call an undercut in the fuse pocket tube to allow
for the locking ring to slide down and screw in.

To be metric or not to be metric ?

Thanks for the info Phil.

Always good to see a proper "Engineer" at work mate !

Cheers MB
I am moving on well with this one and hope to have some more
progress very soon
