Shipping a bomb!

Hi, Anyone got any contacts for a cheap but reliable freight company that would ship a couple of bomb casings from Germany? (inert of course), also what is customs likely to make of this? do they need labeling on the customs form in any special way to avoid an evacuation at the depot!

Perhaps Phil has a good contact, I am sure he has done this many many times before!:tinysmile_tongue_t:

I have several times shipped heavy inert ordnance items to UK and around EU succesfully by truck. Inside EU no customs involved, neither X-ray control as with post parcels. By truck there is a higher basic fee but if you send 100-200 kilos in one box it's no longer that expensive. Ask a truck company, there are several alternatives.

Hi, thanks for that, are there specialist companies around? if I was looking on the net am I looking for a company based in the uk or where the item is to be collected? sorry for my ignorance but I really want to do this right.

You have to look for a company operating in the country where the items are shipped from, but also having services to your country. You may start asking from DB Schenker. They are a Germany based company and I have used them for transport to UK.

Rockteer - For your info I have used the Germany company mentioned Tmine35 three times. They are very good and I have found them reliable but it is best to build up a parcel of goods with a combined weight exceeding 150 Kilos. A single bomb may be just under that (obviously it depends on it's size !!) but if you can combine with several purchases or ask seller to hold until you buy again or even buy in conjunction with someone else it is very economical. Good luck & remember to post a picture when you take delivery for us all to see.

Correct with combined shipping. It does not make much difference in cost if they transport 10 kilos or 150 kilos - cost will be around 200 Euros in any case. Most important is that in addition to the basic fees they do not charge on weight or volume that much, but according to how much area the box takes on lorry as they do not pile the boxes over each other. Thus the way of packaging is very important.

Hi, Thanks for this, I knew this was the right place to ask, I will of course share pics when they arrive.
