Fantastic:congrats:I've been after the one on the left for quite some time. Even though they were used extensively near where I live, during the Maori Wars, I've only seen one outside a museum. Well done.

i have one of the small 2 3/4 inch ones and ive always known it as a Moissant grenade. have you heard it called this before?
paul.

nice grenades

First of all i'd like to comment on the nice grenades and the Boer War shells you have posted. I just love the old stuff and yours is top shelf. I have also heard of the small ball grenade referred to as the Moissant (not easy to find). Funny how these evolved into the 1914 bracelet grenade, which evolved into many other designs. To me WW1 was where the most advances were made in grenade design in a very short period of time. I must say this Boer War now interests me very much. Grapeshot you truly have some nice stuff and would not mind seeing a few Boer War stories posted. Very good...Dano

I just managed to get one of the french mod. 1847 grenades with the mod. 1882 fuse which were used by the french in WW1 around 1914 because of the lack of "real" handgrenades. I will post pics when it has arrived.

It has arrived today. An early french model 1847 with model 1882 friction fuze in perfect condition with wooden plug, pull wire etc. I will post photos soon! :)

There it is! :)
