Specialist Auctions account problem and solution.

A tale of woe, posted here in case anyone else gets the same problem.

Yesterday I was send by email an invoice from Specialist Auctions. (Sent at 15:30)
When I read the email yesterday evening I clicked on the link to pay the amount due, 2.76.
The link took me to the sign in screen and after I had signed in I had a message saying my account was not active. There were no menu options in my members area, all my listings had gone, as had my watched items, and when I tried to place a bid on a friends item I wasn't able to bid.

I spoke to a moderator that I know and explained the whole situation. He checked and confirmed that my listings had all disappeared. Unfortunately he wasn't able to help, other than suggest that my account had been suspended for non-payment of the invoice which had been sent just 5 hours previous.

I sent an email, and a through site contact message to Specialist Auctions explaining what the situation was that I was experiencing and that there was no link available for me to pay the invoice.

This morning, in the absence of any response from Specialist Auctions, I thought I'd see what happened if I clicked the link in an old invoice email. Guess what, it worked! and I was able to pay the 2.76 due on the latest invoice. All my listings have come back, and everything else is back to normal.

The cause of the problem was simple, but not immediately obvious.
When Specialist Auctions sent the invoice to me, THEY PUT THE WRONG LINK FOR PAYMENT in the email.
The link in the email was http://www.specialistauctions.com/membersarea.php?page=preferences
it should have been http://www.specialistauctions.com/invoice.php?id=XXXXXX with the XXXXXX being my user ID number.

So if you experience the same problem, the solution is equally simple. Click on the link in an old invoice email, and it will take you to the payment screen.

Many thanks for the tip off reccetrooper,I had a few e-mails in the past for payment(even if under a quid and they won't let you pay it!) but ignore these and use the view and pay your bill from the site link....touch wood no problems with paying your bill this way:wink:
