1891 is a common date for the Winchester 37mm. Must have been a big contract that year.You can almost be certain if you pick up a case or round, it will be 1891.
 
I remember reading somewhere that a batch of these 1891 dated rounds were inerted and sold in the 1960s. This is why there are so many of them around.
