Unidentified illumination projectile / star shell

Hi

Can anyone identify this projectile in the Canadian War Museum collection? It is probably 6-pounder and manufactured about 1919, based on the stampings. The insert matches the British style of illumination round that the Treatise of Ammunition says was used for all calibres below 6 inches. However, none of the 6-pounder Hotchkiss manuals show a star shell, and the date is too early for the 6-pr 10-cwt coast defence gun or the 7-cwt antitank gun (and their manuals do not show a star shell either). It could be some other country, except that one of the stampings appears to be abroad arrow.

Thanks

Doug

Does the candle container shown below the projectile fit into the projectile? Do you have photos of the projectile base and the fuzewell?

Yes, the candle holder fits into the cavity - like a base ejection round. Being empty, it slides well in leaving about two inches behind/below it, but i don't know what it would have been when it was filled. No photos, but I can get some next week - what specifically do you need?

A photo looking into the hollow base to show the inside of the body would be good, and an angled shot of the fuzewell looking in from the top. A better shot of the lettering stamped into the side would also help.
