A star studded story of almost 1000 German Jews leaving Hamburg in 1939 on a ship called St. Louis to escape to Cuba only to be turned away in Havana https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075406/. Many actors were huge stars at the time, and many became huge stars. The real ship was sunk in 1944 and its role was played by an Italian ship called Irpinia. Here is Irpinia's web site.
