G'day gents,

I am looking at putting together a differential identification guide for the TS-50 and VS-50 AP mines, and the various derivatives thereof.

The differences between the TS-50 and VS-50 mines are fairly apparent to me, however I was wondering if the VS-50 has ever been produced with a pressure plate safety cover the same as the TS-50, rather than (or in addition to) the external safety pin?

As for the derivatives, information I have found is scarce. There is info on the Iranian YM-1(B) variant here: http://www.mineactionstandards.org/...-notes/TN_09-30_05_2001_YM-1B_Version_1-0.pdf and (very) limited information on the Egyptian T/79 variant here: http://www.cameo.org/tech/t79.html

Does anyone have further information?

Cheers,

RA

Not sure if this helps but there is also the VS-50AR which is an electronically fused vs50 it also has a mercury tilt switch as an anti handling feature.

Thanks, Bart. I've seen references to the VS-50AR, but not too much information. Have you come across any information when and how many were produced, or where they have been sighted in use?

Hi RA,
Unfortunatly i don't have any information perhaps someone else can help more.

FYI Lex has some nice pics of vs50 and ts50.
