yellow paint on l42a1 drill round

I have seen plenty of drill 84mm, but not one with a painted yellow spike, usually bare metal or blackened.
 
first one ive seen like this.why would anyone want or feel the need to paint it yellow il might never know .who ever did made a good job .the paint itself is quite thick and a well even spray (not a spray can job) in satin finish .not sure if to strip it. cheers .Darrol.
 
Sounds like it supposed to be there then, if it's a good (factory) paint job. Better leave it on for now just in case, I'm sure someone must have come across one like this before.
