Yet another 20mm Projectile

Shell Shifter

Odd looking thing. The fuse end is brass and there is a "cup" set in the rear of the projectile. I think that the tip unscrews, gotta fool with it. No threads in the back. Thoughts?

ETA The markings on the Tip are "254 II NNC 785"
The markings on the body are sorta faint but I think they are

WW2 20mm Oerlikon HE projectile.

254 is the fuze type, 1942 is the projectile date.

Looks like one from an American WW2 Oerlikon drill round, brown unloaded projectile , they are often soldered to the case.

Cheers
Bob

I have to agree with Bob the colour match is exact for the drill round.
Best regards Weasel.

That is exactly what it is,pic of mine with projectile still soldered into the case, but a Hispano in this case(pun unintentional)

Cheers
