23 m/m

Hi dave,
you have three variations of the 23x122 Hispano Suiza
the first one which looks to be yours; HS drawing 130.588 dated 14-06-1938 used effectively with a 407 barrel , primer is an "etoupille" 10 m/m diameter ; rim thickness is 3.5 m/m
The s econd HS drawing C ?? 760 dated 31 -10-1934 used with a 401 barrel berdan primer diameter 7.80, rim thicknes is 2.5 m/m
third is a variation of number two , same HS drawing number dated 04-10-1934 the lower part of case just above the groove has a rounded shape ( like oerlikon) used in 401 barrel
I have nothing else. Those 3 variations were made by socit franaise des munitions for experiments prior WWII

The gun was at an advanced stage of development in 1940, and was I believe fitted to one Dewoitine D.520 (IIRC) which was sent off on an anti-tank mission, but it never returned.

The ballistics were the same as the Soviet VYa-23: 200g at 900 m/s. Quite a hot gun.
