This image shows a case and projectile being loaded as a single element, but another loader is holding just the case. Is the projectile rammed in separately which is not as shown or are the two put together as it seems here ? The case has a cap and if removed prior to loading then assembling the round prior to loading would be easy. Or is one just placed in front of the other and both pushed in at the same time. Can any one clarify this ?

Below are several nice color photographs of the 69th Coastal Artillery Regiment, US Army at Camp Buchanan, Puerto Rico, 1939. The first two photos show loading practice/gun drill with 3 inch M3 AA guns on M2A2 mounts. The cartridges are probably M10 Drill rounds. The 3rds photo is Camp Buchanan and the final photo is men in formation. These images are from the photographic collection of Southern Methodist University, Central University Libraries (Dallas, Texas, USA) and have been uploaded to Flickr with no copyright restrictions.

I once had an article outling the man-hours and steps in producing/manufacturing/building a large caliber gun?rifle.

IIRC it was a Russian 12 inch/305 mm gun. The article had pitures of the various steps with detailed man-hours for each step'

I am looking for this article and/or other articles on the time and steos in producing large caliber artillery tubes. For instance I would like to know the time/man hours difference betweeb a buily up gun versus a wire wound gun.

Any help or leads would be appreciated.
