Does anybody have any more information on this 1944 dated American 37x215SR T2 round please? The following markings are stamped into the driving band, 'LOT LE-1-45-37MM-T-34' and the projectile is stencilled, '37 S???? INERT T34' and 'AMM LOT PA-E-816'. The fuze plug is marked 'FUZE -DUMMY T134'. The length of the projectile including plug is 152mm. Thank you.

I agree with M8. Odd. Casing appears to be a cut down/reworked M17 AA casing, but that's a SWAG. Possibly in this series would be the T3, which used a 1.1" 75cal necked down to 20mm, but again a SWAG. What are the measurements of the base of the casing? Thanks, Bruce.

Gentlemen - apologies for the delay in adding this additional information. I don't think the case is a re-worked 37mm M17 as it is somewhat larger. The pics below shows it alongside a steel M17 for comparison of bases. The diameter of the T2 base is 57.3mm; the diameter across the extractor groove is 50.8mm; the diameter immediately above extractor groove is 54.7mm and the thickness of rim is 3.8mm. (The M17 case is on the left, the T2 case is on the right.)

This case is listed in Hawkinson's book on case types as a 37x212SR, 37mm T2, 57.3mm rim, as a USA anti-aircraft shell. No further details.
I thought others would have read this and commented before I did.

I have a similar round:

37x222SR
Rim - 51.4mm
Groove dia - 47.3mm
Groove width - 2.4mm
dia above grove - 49.48

You can see the head stamp in the attached photo, but the projectile is stamped: 37MM .H.E. SH. T2 F,A. LOT-5451-I-O. H.P.

Who knows if this is the proper projectile for these case...….

I guess what we are all wanting are those 'further details'. Interesting that there seems to be some variation in case lengths and that imaokie2000 has another variation...

Joe, according to Mellichamps second book, page 614, your round is correct. The later version before they went to the M54 round uses the MK II round like this one...

Though he has your T2 projectile on the TYPE 2 MOD E3 casing, he has no mention of the T2 casing, but it might have been the precursor to the TYPE 2 MOD E3. Possibly there were projectiles left over from the original T2 project and used for the later project. I'd love to have a projectile like yours . Cheers, Bruce.

Sorry, I wasn't aware of that book. Thanks for letting us know about it. Where can I get one? Thanks, Bruce.

I’m very thankful for this thread. I just picked up one of these cases simply because I hadn’t seen one before, but couldn’t find any info on it until I found this thread. Now I know projectile specifics, and a reference book. Thanks again to all who shared their available examples and information!
