French Mustard Yellow paint

Does anyone know the correct number for French Mustard Yellow paint, and are they the same color for WWI and WWII? I'm looking to restore a couple of 37mm Mle 1916 HE rounds. Thanks, Bruce.

RAL 1021 is generally the accepted equivalent of the yellow paint use on artillery munitions during ww1 and the following years. Sometimes RAL 1023 is also given - you must take into account variations due to exposure to weather. I have been unable to find the original composition of the paint (also used on French explosive bombs) and it most probably may have undergone slight variations from batch to batch.
This yellow tint was so characteristic of French ammunitions that it gave its name to a yellow pigment called "jaune artillerie" - still in use today in paints fabrication.
