Got a couple of new fuzes in the collection. I think they are mortar fuzes but don't know the countries. I think the SR49 is French or a derivative, but don't know. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bruce.

Hello,
I can't remember where I saw the first one (SR 49).
This centrifugal system is uncommon for a french fuze and indicates a projectile fired with rotation (Artillery ?)
I know Finnish used SR .. (Schneider-Remondy) for designation (French system).
The second one is same as chinese type 9 (diagram).

Regards

Minen, you're right about the SR49 being spin armed, I just didn't think. It has LH threads for the booster, so that should have clued me in also. Thanks for the info on the Chinese Type 9. I gather it goes with 81mm?

I was contemplating pre to during WWII usage of the fuze for 81mm since post war types of fuzes that I know of for the 82mm's seemed to be copies of Soviet made and usually were of steel or phenolic materials. Since I don't know the period this fuze was used, I was speculating it was used by Nationalist China. Upon searching for the Type 9 fuze, I found no direct examples, but did find that Communist Chinese used a 1931 variant of the 82mm, and what looks like the Type 9 in a diagram was used in the 120mm. Thanks, Bruce.
