sydney gunshow

I will be at the Sydney gunshow on Saturday if any one from the forum is going to be there we could meet up

Maybe you can post some photos? I'd love to see how an Australian gun show looks. I wanted to go to a Canadian show in Montreal but my friend talked me out of it saying I'd be disappointed.

It's always an interesting experience going to any gunshows in general.............however compared to O/S (US) ones, the reports /photos from the meet ups in Europe (W&P) and even interstate (Melbourne /Ballarat) shows, it would be something of an anti-climax.

Having stated that, the Sydney show is well represented by interstate dealers etc, so for 1st timers - well worth the experience if you happen to be in the neighborhood.

As per the law of probability - you never know one's luck being in the right place at the right time.

I'll be going - normally a good opportunity to meet up with fellow collectors etc.

@KIWIEOD
I'll send you a PM - but just look for the overweight / ugly bugger :tinysmile_eyebrow_t

Good luck at you gun show. If you're at a Kentucky gun show, overweight and ugly is commonplace (my self included). Adding the "missing teeth" line really doesn't narrow it down much either (though I do have a full set). You have to come up with something really eccentric or note worthy to stand out, like wearing a kilt, a beanie, or bagpipes for positive ID.

You ask for a local Gunshow, well here is last months show at Ballarat with some Jazz music to show some highlights.
You will see some of my sale items and Mr 18Pr, your two Ballarat identities at 2.40mins into the video. Cheers. Ron.

And except for a couple of replicas (the Steyr/MG34) all of the guns/rifles/pistols are live firing. Deactivated weapons are very rare here.

Bruce,
Question:
What has 200 feet and 3 teeth?
Answer:
Front row of Willie Nelson concert.

But seriously, I much rather be in that crowd. I only went to Knob Creek Gun Show, and that was awesome. I don't mind that funny accent as long as people are good.

Here is an American gun show, a rather unusual one, at Unadilla in the middle of the State of New York. It is an open air gun show on the grounds of a local gun club, no admission, no protection from the sun or rain. Unlike the neighbouring states of New Jersey and Connecticut, where gun shows are forbidden, New York is full of gun shows, big and small.

Sksvlad, I find the outdoor events, if in favourable weather, have a more laid back atmosphere. Very conducive to wiling a whole day away just looking and shooting the breeze.

Another "typical" Sydney Gun Show............

No idea what happened to KIWIEOD - no contact /no show?........must have gone AWOL

(Perhaps spotted moi & saw how fugly I was and scare him off! LOL)

Anyway enjoy the pics!
Cheers
Drew

Yep - $600 AUD (which is probably around $100 USD the way our dollar is heading...........)

The Seller is relatively new - he was at the last show with basically all the same items (wonder why?) and somewhat pricey IMHO.

Having stated that, first time I have seen Tiger 88 cases for sale + a handful of after uncommon German cases.

Cheers
D

Nice show. Thanks for the pictures. I have not been to a Sydney gun show for years. Were they REAL Tiger cases though or the normal 8,8cm Flak cases ?

Not sure as I didn't examine them - assuming it should therefore have a head stamp markings of: KWK43 for the King Tiger or Tiger 88?

For those prices the Seller will probably still have them at the next show...

Probably ordinary 8,8cm Flak 18 cases - used in both the Flak 18 AA gun and the KwK 36 gun used in the Tiger E. To ID them as tank gun cases, they’d need to have the original stencilling intact on the side and / or a C/22 primer that had never been removed. The 8,8cm KwK 43 cartridge case used in the Tiger B is very different.
