French detonator or gaine but what from?

good morning, please see the attached photos of what appears to be a French gaine. On the side of the outer case is marked 'DETONATEUR D'INSTD, INERTE' and on the base
'61
BOP
17'
the top of the brass section is stamped with an R

Is the outer case the transit tube? it has no apparent means of fitting it to a fuze or shell and what type of ordnance does it belong to?

any thoughts?

many thanks, Dave

Dave, this is a training aid, "Detonateur d'Instruction", and the maker is ECP, not EOP, Ecole Centrale de Pyrotechnie, located in Bourges, I think it could be some kind of gaine to place before firing, for a bomb for example. Not sure 61 is a date. Measurement could help, but I guess someone on this forum will educate us. Frank

cheers Frank, thats excellent. The overall length is 102mm, the length of the outer casing 80mm and the detonator 25mm

many thanks, Dave

This gaine (detonator inside and picric acide composition) is use in shell gaine Mle1890 and generaly under 30/45 SM or 30/45 De Côte fuzes. This gaine is fitted or not with delais composition on top.
