I recall the "locker room" for the missile system fire control equipment (Mk 119?). '60s vintage technology, but much akin to that explained in the IAA discussion, just a little more advanced. A bunch of interlinked cabinets, hence "locker room", with servos and motors and shafts and gizmos. I only observed, never had to operate or pull maintenance on any of it. Thankfully. Neat stuff, regardless. Props to JohnS for his details and explanations.
