A new item for the collection is this 3" and 4.2" Mortar Plug Rep. Fuze No162 11.
Made in 1981 by BN. Who is this maker?
3691 stamped on body. Marked in white under cap: PLUG REP 162 FUZE. Wire represents the safety.
Is the projection tab at the fuze cap joint only to help remove the cap? Not on real fuzes.

BN is probably Blackburn (in Lancashire), where there was a big ROF that made fuzes.

BN is indeed ROF Blackburn, The Fuze Factory. Although the 162 was used with the 3", 4.2" and 81mm, by 1981 only the 81mm was left in UK service.

The Fuze Drill No 162 Mk 1 and 1/1 were both used with both the 3" and 4.2" Mortar Practice Inert and Drill bombs.
Plug Proof Representing Fuze No 162 was also used with 3" and 4.2" Practice inert bombs. There were plenty of these held for bomb trials and as the 81mm Mortar was imminent it was a good way to use them up rather than making more of the same.
The Fuze 152M was also still being used in both until the end.
There was no practice bomb in early 81mm Mortar technical publications only HE and WP. The later practice and drill fuzes for the 81mm Mortar bombs were in the 'L' fuze series.
The Fuze No 162 Mk10 was used with both the 3" and 81mm Mortars.
Your fuze, being painted black, was being used with drill bombs.
