These belong to a friend. Can anyone tell him if the projectile and shell are used together?
Thanks

For the most part they are, though I'm not sure what lot series of casing would be correct for the projectile. One of the ones I have has both the PE&M CO projectile and casing with a matching five digit and dash lot number. Is the projectile fuzed? Cheers, Bruce.

I would agree even if the lot numbers don't match (things get mixed up over time) the lot on the case
isn't for the MK1 series.

Annoyingly, I just ran across this information last night while looking for a drawing for the 57mm T-18 in my files from Aberdeen. I remember looking at my 1916 and comparing it to the drawings. I do remember that the date was from 1935, yet still for the model 1916 gun, so the match is likely. I’ll see if I can find it again, but they are listed like 7-14-234 so it isn’t easy to find something specific in the 49,000 drawings.

found a couple of the drawings... one is 1929. Shows MKII projectile in MKI case

A good question would be when SMC started production of the MKII HE. That would help to narrow down what exact case, either the MK I or the MKIA1 or the MK1A2. All are dimensionally the same at 94mm, but differ in their priming. I think the MKI used either what was called the 20gr or 40gr primer, the MKIA1 I have has no primer but was remanufactured from a MKI and over stamped and the primer pocket is cut for a primer the size of the M23A1, so I would suppose it used an M23. Lastly, the MK1A2 used the M23A1 primer. Again, the key would be SMC. Cheers, Bruce.
