Trench Mortar , Projectiles, No 3 Grenade Postcard

I picked up this postcard, it shows a variety of blinds.
But in the middle of all this Frenchness is a No 3 rifle
grenade. Would the French have had these also ?

They did have some No 2's . They ordered several thousand from Hales before the start of WW1 . These were fitted with 8mm rods for use with the Lebel rifle . At the start of the war the remains of the contract were taken over by the British & re-rodded for the .303 Lee Enfield . You can tell the British ones that came from the French contract as the bodies are stamped 8mm . That one in the photo could be a French one as the rod looks to be far to long for a British one . Hope this helps.
