These are on the 1st Dib's site so are priced beyond any
kind of reality. But they are interesting anyways.
They are not Hotchkiss or Nordenfelt as far as I can tell.
Measurements of the cases: D 28cm x W 55cm x H 36cm (11" x 21.7" x 14.2")
I have asked for the depth and diameter of the holes in the wood inserts.
The saddle is not original to them.

Dimensions of the wood inserts, should help in figuring out
what these were for in a general way.
Depth of the wooden inserts: 15,5 cm (5,31 Inch) Diameter of the holes: 6,5cm (2,56 Inch)"

There is a lack of any secure method of holding these closed, I think when strapped onto
or into the original carrier these were held shut by the carrier straps etc. When removed for
use there was no need, just a snug fit would be needed.

The Schnieder 65mm Mountain gun comes to mind, or similar ?

Would a French round fit in the case ? it would depend on the total length of the round.

Could it be Swiss? Their mountain artillery used mules and this may well fit one rather than a horse?

Anything is possible, here is what seems to be a marking , though it's
too faint to be of much use.
