I show a 9Pdr RML Shrapnel shell MkV111 by R^L dated 5/87 on the stud.
Introduced in 1877. Length is 202mm.
The nose and fuze bush seem to be soldered. Is this usual over the pins?

The base is well marked. What does the 29 over 3 mean??
It still has some shrapnel balls and a stem showing down the tapered fuze hole.

29/3 = March 3rd
Here is mine, I don't know who made it. another stud
has the letter N on it.

Perhaps a No. 60c conversion from a No. 56 [IV] with the addition of a 2nd time ring
(the lower movable time-ring has the standard No.60 graduated 0-44 scale)

May be more markings on the other side of the fuze.

What fuze would have been fitted to Ron’s 1887 shell? Ron there’s another 9 pdr plug and 2 elbowed friction tubes on eBay.

Thanks Spotter. Darkman, I will check Bunnings Hardware shelves tomorrow. They usually have sold out though.
