Strangely, my copy of the movie was called "Wolhynia" which was a province of Poland before WWII https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6068960/. Movie's name is as confusing as the subject, basically "hatred" between Poles and Ukrainians living side by side caught in a gargantuan struggle between Germany and the USSR during WWII. The most brutal war depiction I knew, but probably the closest to what actually happened. The movie's action bounces back and forth between Polish, Ukrainian, Russian and German at a dizzying speed.
A village teacher tells children: "Come to school tomorrow and find out which language you are going to speak".
