Marquing on PuW bombs

Good morning all
I come to you for a question of marking with paint.
I would like to know the meaning of the red strip on the body of the German PuW bombs of the First World War.
This band was not very wide, it was on the body at the front and sometimes also at the back ...

Thank you.

Interesting question. Note that most of the photographs of ww1 PuW do not show such markings.
BTW, one photo of an AEG N shows 2 parallel bands on the body near the COG but these may be in fact retaining bands attaching the bomb to the wing.
For the record the color code of the overall paint of the PuW :
Normal fragmentation bombs, painted light grey
Attack fragmentation bombs, painted yellow
Night fragmentation bombs , painted white
Incendiary bomb, painted black (or sometimes dark red)
High explosive bomb, painted light blue (the heavier PuW were all HE)

Hello,

it seems that the PuW bombs have a marking with a red band at the warhead and the base.

In 1918, during the retreat of the Germans in Sommes, 5 PuW of 1000 kg were discovered. One was appraised in Clermont-Ferrand. She had two red stripes ...

Another 50 kg PuW bomb was discovered in France with a remnant of red band nowadays ...
