Just arrived ,one Gross Panzergranate 61 are these common ?and anybody got an idea how many were made for the SS ? Any help ,information appreciated

Nice find Dave, congratulations. These are pretty scarce, but I do not know how many were made. There were two versions, one with the pointed head like yours, and one with a rounded head. As far as I know they both had the same classification, although I've cataloged the two in my collection as SS.G.Pz.Gr.61s ("s" for spitzkopf on the pointed version), and SS.G.Pz.Gr.61r ("r" for rundkopf on the rounded version). There was also a smaller pointed model with a 46mm diameter, the SS.G.Pz.gr.46.

Nice job on the restoration, although I must tell you that these were only painted a dull black originally.

Never seen one until this one turned up,released from a UK museums reserve collection and could only find black and white pictures (and not that many ) so took a guess but now sprayed matt black

That looks great Dave!!! The color change made a big difference. Here are two of mine with original paint for reference.
