Automitrailleuse Peugeot 1914 In the early months of the war, commercially available "Peugeot type 153 limousines" were converted to open topped armoured cars by the addition of 5.5 mm thick armoured plates around the crew compartment and of an unprotected rear fighting compartment (with wooden sides). The armament was a central pivot mounted machine gun or a 37mm Hotchkiss M1887 gun protected by a light gun shield, 120 were built.
What is interesting in the photo you uploaded is that the soldiers are French sailors. This indicates that it is a photo of one of the "Groupes Mixtes d’Automitrailleuses et d’Autocanons de la Marine" put afoot in 1914 to take part in the fighting around Lille, Douai and Flanders, widely known as "the rush to the North Sea"
