Not my usual acquisition, I normally look out for baton-round/irritant tins, but I thought I’d purchase this tin to save it from being up-cycled or used for garage tools.

1968 H83Mk1 tin, stenciled for 72 Cartridges 1 Inch Illuminating L3A1.
CY indicates the Royal Ordnance Factory at Chorley, Lancashire.
This would have held 24 small tins, each holding three cartridges.

Was hoping to find a tin or cartridge with the same date and lot,but this is the closest I could get. Cheers Tig.

I only have seven 1” cases, as they are not my usual collecting interest, but I had a look at them and I happen to have an L3A1 from the same month, albeit the lot number is ten higher.

I’ve just seen this similar tin listed on eBay. It has additional stencilling on the lid.
