Hi Guys,

What is the value of a British WWII Limpet Mine fuze?

Also did the Germans use these fuzes as well?

Thanks

John

Hi John
Difficult one to answer, as it depends rather on Type, Condition and Completeness. Make sure it has it's innards in place too, as they are often found as just the external body alone. Displays ok, but! Original packing tin, ampoules burster block and instructions add to the package value.
Guidelines - Mk1 or 1A complete Delay - £100 - £150
Mk II Delay - £150 plus - Far less common
Original Tin, complete except burster obviously £200 - £300 Depending

Germans may have used captured delays, as they were very partial to using captured equipment, but also had their own Celluloid Acetone Zeitzunder, Various other acid delays, and a nice selection of sabotage clocks.

Hope this helps a bit.
Cheers

Thanks. This is the one I am looking at, but the owner thinks it is German.

Hi John
Sorry to say but I think the vendor is confused. That is a British manufactured Mk 1 or 1A Acetone Delay. Might have been captured off a German chap, but definitely made in Britain. Have you got any pictures inside the main body to see if the mechanism is still intact?

I can remember they were on Specialist auction for £9 about 10 years ago.

VERY nice cutaway Switch! No, unfortunately no other pictures of the inside. I told the owner it is not German, and now he realizes it, but he still has it priced like it's a rare German fuze. :tinysmile_cry_t:
