Hello,
I'm reading an US documentation from 1930 with a "Lacrimatroy candle".
As far as I'm aware today it's "Lachrymatory", isn't it ?
 
Just a variant spelling. Same meaning, with respect to chemical agents, regardless. Lachrymatory had something to do with a vessel to hold the tears of mourners in original meaning.
 
Reading the title of your post, MINEN, I'd have to add there IS no help for our language:wink:.
