This is the front page of today's Daily Mirror, celebrating British success on VE day. Yes, that ammo strip the soldier is holding obviously symbolises the best of....oh, hang on a minute :frown:

I take it that they are holding 20×138B rounds. So for German weapons such as the 2 cm Flak30, 38 and Flakvierling 38

Italian 20x138B
Well.... they defected in the end... so there may be some truth in it....depending upon the year of WW2 you choose

More interesting to see is that it's filled with 2xHE, 1xAP

Yep, the German AA guns in this calibre used 20-round curved box magazines, the Italian Breda and Scotti used the 12-round strip as shown.

By the look of the curved sight arm it's an Italian 20m Breda ,used by the British army( also supplied to the British Navy for ship board mounting ) after large amounts of guns and ammo were captured in North Africa

The 20mm Breda's were a favourite (captured) weapon of the LRDG. Sharing the love i guess.

Very early ammo collectors...maybe the first BOCN members.... looking upward to the BOCN logo in top of the screen:tinysmile_twink_t2:
