I read the two books earlier this year. Both concern the war on the Eastern Front and one takes up from where the other leaves off. The campaigns were of truly epic proportions. Some of the facts touch on the losses suffered by both sides - an horrendous war of attrition. The author had access to many original source documents. These are worth reading if only to get an idea of the scale of the struggle and how awful it must have been for the ordinary soldiers.
