Hybrid Practice / Drill Grenade?

peregrinvs

Well-Known Member
Bought this today at the Chatham militaria fair without much prior research and I think I’ve ended up with a hybrid of an L3A1 practice grenade body and an L4A1 etc. drill fuze. Is this correct? I believe the lever is from an HE grenade.

Thanks,
Mark

no it's not correct - they should just have a screw plug in them - but I have often seen these pracs paired together for sale w/fuze assemblies.

Thanks. It was labelled as an L28A1 drill and unfortunately it didn’t occur to me that the body colour was for practice. The seller did state that the lever was incorrect.

the L28A1 drill was fitted w/a fuze assembly but body is solid aluminium (rather than sheet metal w/HE substitute filler like the L3 pracs), as well as being painted dark blue (as were the L4A1 and L4A2 drills).
