Grenade identification

Anyone got an ID for this grenade?
Holes at both ends, no threads, no markings.
It is 9cm tall and 7cm wide - shown next to a No. 36 for scale.
Any ideas welcome.

A version of different design P3 French grenades ,for me, i've found the same design on french area battle field

My first thought was a throwing practice grenade, similar to the 'Townsend' models. The other option is that it is not unlike some of the grenades made for the West Spring Gun.

Thanks to you both for the responses.
Millsman, I hand wondered about a throwing practice grenade, due to the lack of threads/plug. I have seen some of the West Spring grenades on quickfire of late, but they all look very well made. This has a distinctly rough feel to it!
Doctor, do you have any photos of the P3 alternative designs you have come across?
