I have shown this 2 pounder naval in the past for identification, no answers followed.
It appears to be a Semi Armour Piercing Incendiary, this projectile was crimped into the case and was found on the south coast many years ago and i was fortunate to purchase it, i carefully cut the nasty case off the projectile, i then preceded to take it apart after months in soak, the rear (large) base plug copper. washer and wad screwed out, after more months in soak the inner plug (small) and wad unscrewed
Inside is a alloy tube with a small hole at the bottom, inside the alloy tube was some kind of inert filler, stop !! as you can see it is a AP 2 Pr 1V/N LUV 4 44 i cannot see clearly any inspection stamps, infact there are no other stamps on the projectile, comments welcome
Can you post a photo of the nose please? Thanks, Depotman

any comments on this round !
What size case was it in?
Always seeking British flares and 2" mortar rounds.
40 x 158mmR Naval case
My only thought is as its a naval projectile in a naval case it was used with the RR 2 pounder fitted to MTBs, I believe some landing craft used a 2pdr anti tank gun but obviously not using a 158mm case. There were some different loadings used in this gun including incendiary, sap as well as HE.
I saw a doc once showing loadings but dont know where?? Anybody? Just my 2 pence worth! Cheers Tig

its a pity Tig that you cant remember those documents whereabouts, i must have had this round 10 years or more and still trying to find its purpose
