Belgian 5.7cm Nordenfelt HE cartridges

Hello everyone,

I recently picked up 2 nice matching Belgian 5.7cm Nordenfelt cartridges and I am looking to get more info on the projectiles.

Another post from a few years ago by member USSubs (last photo in the post) shows 2 Belgian HE cartridges with a slightly shorter, more rounded HE projectile with rounded zinc time fuzes (i believe). I cannot however find any photos of my projectile type which are longer and more pointed with small brass Belgian made PD fuzes.

Both fuzes have the Belgian “EP” stamp along with an “M”, which is also stamped onto the bottom of the projectile. Both cases are dated 1896 and 1897.

Does anyone happen to know if these were an earlier / later production type, or made for export maybe?

They are german, not belgian...

Ahh okay, that makes more sense! They were the later captured German made ones?

German made for captured belgian and russian guns.

Of course, that all makes sense now! I mostly collect modern items so these are not my typical items. Thank you!
