East German Practice

The one with frag body could be called "Exerzierhandgranate F1 für Knallsätze"

Hallo,
as of 1980 there was only one real practice grenade, the URG-N. The fuse was just called "Übungszünder"(trainingfuse) in combination with a "Übungszündladung"(training-ignitioncharge). These fuses were meant to be reused after recocking and screwing in a new "Übungsladung". There was no F1 training version. Just for throwing practice a red-laquered F1 raw body without fuse was used. The handgrenades shown on Lexpevs site can only be very early postwar models. Another training device was a one way sandfilled plastic "Imitationshandgrante"(imitation handgrenade) with a friction-igniter.
Bellifortis.

Regulation "A 050/1/482 Handgranaten, Beschreibung und Nutzung" of 1980 still contains the URG-N training hand grenade.

Hello rigby,
the one you mention from A 050/1/482 dated 1980 is the normal, offical russian URG-N used also by the NVA.
The one mentioned before is the not so often seen one with a noise charge made similar like a flare cartridge. Check at the link from jvollenberg.
