C324

I have been offered this C324 Mk1 container dated 1945.
It has markings for 3-inch mortar cartridges but was refitted in 1966.
I found no reference in wartime pamphlets for this type of container so it is unclear to me whether it actually was used for this purpose and since when this model has been in use.

If anyone has any information about this type of container it would be much appreciated.

I just came across some information that this type of box was used for 8 Cylinder 527 mk1 holding 25pdr carts and superseded the C206 around 1945. The weird thing is I found another thread showing photos of this cylinder dated 1943. As the C206 held 25-PR cartridges without cylinders and the C324 only came in service around 1945 I wonder which container held the Cylinder 527 prior to the C324.

You might try C251 (Wood). It gets a mention in the Indian equivalent of RAOS but it is just a one-liner with no dates. Gives:
"Inner Packing
8 tinned-plate cylinders No 509 or 527"
