The F-111 was an amazing aircraft and was in service with the RAAF from 1973 to 2010. It was always popular at air shows with the dump and burn fuel display. When decommissioned, some were donated to air museums, but the rest were unfortunately buried in landfill.

Apparently, like the WW2 lend-lease agreement, it was a condition of purchase that the airframes were to be disposed of at end of service - they were not allowed to be sold or privately acquired. There were 23 airframes buried at that particular landfill site, but up to 13 complete planes were donated to various museums.
