    Commercial Facimilie 18pr Cocktail Mixer

Picked this up today with the other one in Projectiles (I paid too much for it , the real one and likely the bugger will have the fuze next week), from the weekly Sunday Antique (and mounds of crap) market.
From an old tight Irishman who wouldn't give an inch so I paid his $150 Cdn for this.

This isn't real Trench Art as it's a full blown commercial item using a real surplus casing, which sometimes have the original markings as well.
These are around and seem to bring stupid money sometimes, so another 18pr type ~ The case is real,
unmarked so I guess end of war.

I'm missing the glasses from the rack - which I show from another one on the net.

That was a bargain and much better condition than my example.
Can you show top and bottom views of the projectile cap. My cap is missing so may have to make one. Thanks.

These are very rare and sell for big dollars in the US. As Ron says, I think you got a bargain.

Here are some images, if you need more let me know. The top plug is solid brass.
These can get silly in the UK, look at what some poor bugger paid in the UK at a trendy auction ~
The hole in the top is 11/16"

I did not expect it was solid brass. I can possibly have one made to fit if I re-shape the bent nose.
The strainer is damaged on mine but who cares. You do not see it.
Mine cost me $180 for the case and $150 three years later for the projectile. Your example is very nice. Thanks for the info.
You will notice that the primer is a fake replica and not a real primer for a 18Pr.

Indeed, a good facsimile of a German primer ~
Being solid brass the plug will be easier, here are some more
measurements ; the stem is 5/16" deep below the cap, the top is 29/32 across at it's widest being rounded on the edge.
the top thickness is 3/16" slightly domed.

If the prices of these weren't bad enough already, then how about a "revival" in Sterling Silver ~

Mine came as shown, with no rack or glasses. Not as pretty as some, but a clean example. Value seems to be tied to local demand, I think I paid $25.00 at the end of a three day show after no one else wanted it.

Here is another version, quite decorative and likely scarcer. Indeed the local markets are often quite different than the international.
These aren't always understood by collectors; A chap had mine in his hands, (who buys and sells odd things and collects military) and was waving it around wondering why it was so light (I assume he thought it was a real 18pr?), I asked him if he knew what it was (I figured the game was up anyways), He said no , so I told him it was a Cocktail Shaker. He put it down and walked away --- I was amazed as I was sure he knew better than that ~
