Hi,

I believe it’s a British case made by DF Tayler of Birmingham, but what do the markings on the primer mean? Is it Canadian?

Thanks,
Mark

I would think most unusual. As far as I'm aware all their primers went into their cases.

Whilst we’re on the subject of Bofors primer markings, could someone confirm what these are on this 1939 dated British case? There’s what looks like a conjoined ‘JB’ logo next to ‘9 - 40’ (September 1940 I assume) and then ‘CY10-40’. (Chorley October 1940?)

Primer was made by J. and T. Boyd Ltd, Shettleston Iron Works, Glasgow, September 1940, and filled Chorley, October 1940. 783 is the filled Lot number.

Thanks. That’s interesting. Given the events at the time, I’m surprised it took them at least 10 months to get the case into service after being manufactured.
