I was once told that one of the American surplus gun dealers imported a batch into the USA and sold them on the civilian market (along with the rifles).

As such they are still fairly common on the US collectors market.

They are readily available in the US. I bought a batch for $15 each a few years ago. They are multiple ones for sale at $40-$50 each, but they never seem to sell for that much.

I was looking for something to establish a time frame for the advertisement. California sales tax at 3%......means it was a LONG time ago.....

I've got a similar ad from a Chicago based company that is marked as 1961 - think it was Service Armament? Selling Bofors 37mm AT guns for $350.

Wow look at that price, and it was for sale in the city I grew up on the border of. Yes, 3% sales tax, definitely a long time ago, probably 1960's, and well before we became the Communist State of California.
