Saw this briefly yesterday, no measuring devices anywhere to be found. Roughly the size of a USN 6-inch case. Anyone?

Interesting headstamp. I see EOC (Elswick Ordnance) so UK made, most likely export. I also think I see /00 which probably indicates 1900.
 
The "cut-outs" around the mouth are to hold down a wad. Definitely British. Possibly for a black-powder load for the 6-inch Nks I-III guns. However, need the measurements to be certain. A nice-looking item whatever it is!
