WW1 German Shrapnel Shell, double driving bands

Well-Known Member
I came across this shrapnel shell body recently and was hoping for some help in confirming my thoughts. I think it a later type of shrapnel shell for the German FK16 77mm field gun. The diameter of the base is 77mm, 230mm long and mouth 75mm. I suspect the length is incorrect as an adapter ring would be fitted along with the fuze. The distance from the bottom copper band to the base of the shell is short, only 13mm, band width copper is 4mm and metallic 10mm. To me the shell appears to be separate loading rather than fixed, which works for the FK16 rather than the older 77mm guns.
The only marks I can find are on the side, potentially HMM 5 17.
Could anybody confirm my identification and tell me the length of the required adapter (or full length). Any thoughts on paint scheme and fuze would be much appreciated!0C6F12B4-A565-456A-B0F7-F611C3FF1E60.jpg0C3D9808-3CDB-471D-82CE-2AB0379E0C9E.jpg30D52B3D-78E0-425C-85A1-AF6B51E5B1F4.jpgAE758393-5A2B-4464-9785-B9CE87694526.jpgC58B29E6-FC11-413C-AA70-84E85EB4C71A.jpg700D219D-2E65-41B1-AF08-9A07D56FED26.jpg

Many thanks Minenaz, much appreciated. I did try the search function, but as with many things in life if you ask the wrong question you get the wrong answer.
I will attempt to restore with an adapter ring and Dopp 96.

A few years after the last thread I also read about this shrapnel in the archives. The official name was "Feldschrapnell 96 umg. mit Zink und Kupferführung". It came in 12/1917 for the F.K. 16 only.

Hello,
I don't have the complete fuze for this model but this piece, DoppZ96 n / A Zl in zinc alloy graduated up to 7000m.
