1961, Kempton Bunton, a retired bus driver, steals a famed portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11204094/. Learn how to do this right in this superb movie. As to a war connection, the Duke, of course, was the one who defeated Napoleon Bonaparte at Waterloo....And don't miss a James Bond moment from the very 1st 007 movie at the end....

In the closing titles of this movie it says: "Free television licences were eventually introduced in 2000 for the over 75's". Does this mean that one must have a licence to watch TV in the UK?

Does this mean that one must have a licence to watch TV in the UK?

Every household is supposed to pay around £165 per year to own any equipment capable of receiving live broadcasts. This is used to fund the BBC TV Service. However it is also required to watch live non BBC TV, and even foreign satellite broadcasts. It has also been updated in recent years to include live TV streamed over the internet.

There are often calls to scrap this license fee. It used to cover the maintenance costs of the TV transmitters, which have since been sold off to private companies.

A lot more background about it can be found on the internet.
