.50 BMG L16A1 Ball

I'm familiar with the older history of UK production .50 BMG caliber ammunition, M33k, L8A1, etc., such as listed here:

https://sites.google.com/site/britmilammo/-50-inch-browning/-50-inch-browning-ball

Just this month, here in the US, some new .50 BMG Ball ammunition has appeared on the commercial market from CBC. It is headstamped "CBC 21 L16A1 @" with @ being the NATO symbol. Can markings say M33 Ball, though.

Does anyone know the difference between the new L16A1 Ball and the previous versions, M33K, L8A1, etc., since they were comparable to US M33?

When pulled down, the projectile is just like the M33 Ball and previous UK styles. Knurled crimp cannelure, GM jacket, mild steel core, lead base plug, boattail, 654 grains weight.

Hi,
With our L numbering system, foreign contract ammunition to the UK is assigned it's own unique L number, your CBC 21 L16A1 is from Brazil, the L8A1 you quote at the top of your thread should also be a ball round from CBC.
And yes they are both ball made to UK spec which in turn is the same as the U.S. M33 spec.
