In 1941, after US entered IIWW, Roosevelt administration became preoccupied with a possibility of Latin America siding with Hitler and entering the war on Axis side. Every diplomatic string was pulled to prevent it. FDR asked Walt Disney to help the war effort by making a movie about the southern continent (and Brazil and Argentina in particular, being big helps) to promote each other's image and portray US as a nice nearby friend. Disney was happy to oblige. That's how this movie https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0036326/ was conceived. Disney dispatched multiple artists to collect stories and images. The effort paid off, most of Latin America stayed away from Axis and Brazil even sent troops to Italy to help the Allies. This movie is a blend of animation and live documentary reels, it is of historic importance because it shows the world gone many many years ago to never come back. You'll be very surprised by Rio carnival scenes.
