Often get asked what do i collect
These days i mainly collect helmets im not into the modern kevlar fibre ones so all are steel/metal apart from the sun helmet. Neither do i specialise in any country or era i just try to get all different ones.

Ps before anyone gets twitchy the AK is deactivated and displayed with its deact certificate

Very nice Allan, you'll be running out of space at this rate.

Dave..

A new addition to the helmet collection
I spotted a helmet for sale listed as a Replica and recognised it as actually been a Finnish M40/55 the price was very cheap at just £35 and i wanted something to do whilst i get over my recent surgery.
What i understand Finland during ww2 got a supply of german helmets and also post ww2 they got some from germany which were un marked or any markings were ground out, and later manufactured there own copies.
The Helmet i got had been painted had decals applied to resemble a ww2 german one but still had the Finnish made liner..over a couple of days i carefully removed the repaint and decals using a scalpel blade and a bit of acetone to reveal the original Finland paint. As a bonus the helmet shell still had the original German ww2 makers stamps of Q66 (Quist and size 66 shell) and lot number on the rear skirt..so i now have a nice ww2 m40 shell reworked by Finland.I know these get bought and refinished to look like ww2 helmets but i like this as it is its all part of its history..

* apologies for the scrambled order of the photos

Nice collection :)

Those glass bowls you're displaying them on? I had some skull stands from Therion Arms for mine - http://www.therionarms.com/reenact/skull_helmet_stand.html (now long sold) - they looked cool but a dear do if you've lots of headwear to display and your solution seems to work just as well...

I've several helmets myself - steel bar one composite (a Brit Mk 6 - not uncommon in itself but this one's mint, w/card attached, and from a rare maker) and two plastic (Iraqi M80/03 combat helmet and DDR Wachtregiment parade helmet) - but they're all currently boxed up as they take up a fair bit of space to display.

Sounds a bit like my collection, im personally not into the compisite helmets either and all are steel except for 2 the pith helmet and a copy of my great grandads ww1 cap. The bowls i use for displaying them on are plastic cocktail/goldfish bowls from poundland
